Description: Since childhood, I love to wander fleamarkets and visit antiques shops seeking for authentic, beautiful and rare objects, a genuine piece of furniture with the right patina or an inspiring still life painting.
I was determined to become an antique dealer and so I studied Art History and Archeology at Namur and Leuven Universities. Shortly after my studies I started working for Christie's. Visiting lots of art collectors and their houses, my love for antiques was emphasized with a passion for beautiful houses and their interior design.
Next to my job as a consultant for Christie's, and for more than 10 years now, I open twice a year my house, presenting my latest discoveries.
It's always a wonderful experience for me, finding a unique piece, getting inspired by it, travelling different parts of the world, meeting people and discovering their culture and antique objects.
I select all kind of objects and furniture. They may be of different periods and styles. They can be simple, elegant or rough, but mostly timeless, genuine, with pure lines, made of an interesting material, of an aesthetic or intruiging character.
An item will have a new story depending on the spot you choose for it, it will be strenghten in combination with another piece or it will complete a collection.
Assembling and creating a warm atmosphere, an enjoyable and pleasant home with authentic items and so is my passion and I can't wait to share it with you. |

Based at the Leopoldwal in Tongeren, at the center of the famous Tongeren flea market, Leopold Antiques and Design has specialized in three branches of the antique business. These branches are antiques, art nouveau art glass and design.
Carlo Vanseer represents the third generation of a family of antique dealers. He and his forefathers were specialized in 19th century antiques, mainly of western european origin with an emphasis on the French Napoleon III period. At an early age he became interested in French Art Nouveau glass from makers such as Emile Gallé and Daum Frères. He became an expert in this area at the age of 25. Until a few years Leopold Antiques only dealt in items up to the 1930’s but this has now changed. It is now an interesting mix of antique, Art Nouveau, Art Deco 50’s 60’s and 70’s decorative items and furniture. |

Collector and art dealer in Paris
André Hayat was a collector before becoming an art dealer. His passion began in 1976 at the beginning of the interest in the market for French 20th-century furniture.
He was born Egypt, where he had the opportunity to visit Jean Royere’s gallery in Cairo, as well as houses owned by his mother’s friends decorated by Royere.
His passion as a collector made him go from fashion into the Antiques business in 1990, at Paris Flea Market, where he sourced rare pieces by Jean Michel Frank, Jacques Adnet, Gilbert Poillerat, André Arbus, André Sornay, and his favorite artist, Jean Royere. He collected and sold to the best galleries and collectors in the world, beginning in the early 1990s.
He opened his gallery in Paris at 23 rue de Lille on the Parisian left bank in 2008, where he now specializes mainly in the works of Jean Royere, as well as Jacques Adnet, Mathieu Mategot, and all the best French designers of the 1950s. |
