Description: A non-typical name perhaps for an antiques dealer but so many handmade antique objects are artistic creations in my book and the history of wood as an honest material and inspiration for makers of objects through the centuries has always intrigued and fascinated me. So even though I’ve been a generalist dealer for a long time and love to buy and sell all sorts of interesting items, for me antique wood touches the senses like nothing else and that needed to be expressed in a name. With a background in History, Philosophy of Art and Literature, I buy most objects because of their possible stories and human history. It can be the simplest piece of Folk art, a worn and loved textile, a wooden religious statue that has been adored for many generations, a Chinese hand painted porcelain vase or an Ethnic silver bracelet worn by a long line of women, it’s the stories that make antiques more than just beautiful or valuable items. It’s nice if an object makes you wonder about its past and travel into other cultures. Even in this day of age where the object usually finds its place just as a piece of decoration in the interior, your home will be richer because the object had a life before you chose it. In my Inventory you find a wide range of nice items of all ages and corners of the world, affordable and in good order, but I don’t mind if objects show their age and the life they’ve lived. I travel a lot to find my items; in small shops, antique markets, flea markets, from collectors and people’s attics. Meeting interesting people on the way and visiting new and familiar places is the greatest pleasure of all.
